At 6’6” 210 lbs., what separates Akeem from other Guards is his ability to make the NBA 3 at a high rate, rebound the ball from the Guard position and make plays off the dribble for others. Akeem began his college career at Herkimer County Community College. During his freshman year, he won Mountain Valley Collegiate Conference Player of the Year. During his sophomore season he averaged 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists per game, winning his second Mountain Valley Collegiate Conference Player of the Year, as well as Division III Player of the Year honors. During his junior and senior seasons, he transferred to Coppin State University, where he averaged 12.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Only 10 players in the nation had better stats in all three categories. His best game in 2011-12 came against The South Carolina State Bulldogs, where he had 13 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds. In 2013-14, Akeem was drafted in the sixth round of The NBADL Draft, by The Rio Grande Valley Vipers.  For the season, he averaged 6.1 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1 assist in 17.7 minutes per game, shooting 36% from 3 point range.
